The Ford College Community Challenge—an Innovative Grant-Making Opportunity

At Ford, we understand that to be a truly sustainable organization, we must play an active role in the larger community, helping to address a wide range of vital issues from education to safety to mobility.

Through the Ford College Community Challenge (Ford C3), Ford Motor Company Fund supports colleges and universities to work with students in designing and developing tangible community projects that address critical local needs, helping the community become a more sustainable place to work and live. Ford C3 is designed to empower students to make a difference in the world, bringing their unique perspective on what it takes to be a sustainable community. .

The purpose of Ford C3 is to challenge colleges and universities to partner with their local communities to design innovative, student-led projects that address critical community needs. The overarching theme of the Ford C3 is "Building Sustainable Communities."

Past Winners - Building Sustainable Communities Since 2008

Since 2008, Ford Motor Company Fund has awarded $1.6 million to the Ford C3 program. A leader in sustainability and innovation, Ford is proud to support these student-led, community projects that have profoundly affected both the communities in need and the students who work with them.

Ford C3 projects during the past five years have made a tremendous impact in their communities – with many of them continuing to affect change years after they implemented their original project.
