Ford Heart Behind the Oval Scholarship Contest Official Rules
What Are The Rules?
Ford Blue Oval Scholars "Heart Behind the Oval" scholarship contest is open to all U.S. college students enrolled by September 1, 2011.
No purchase necessary. Participants must be legal residents of the United States and/or the District of Columbia. One entry per person. Employees of Ford Motor Company ("Sponsor"), CCO Communications, Inc. d.b.a. PCGCampbell (administrator), their subsidiaries, affiliates, and immediate family members are not eligible for the contest. No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited.
How Do I Enter?
Eligible participants must submit a video (maximum three-minutes) showcasing how they are making a difference with their local non-profit. Winners will be selected based on public voting of the video submissions.
Ford Motor Company will be accepting video submissions online starting on October 17, 2011 and ending on November 30, 2011 at 5:00 PM EST. Videos can be entered through the "Heart Behind the Oval" Contest applications on the Facebook platform (facebook.com/fordblueovalscholars). Visit the Facebook page and "like" it to enter the contest and upload your video. You can also find the applications by clicking on the Heart Behind the Oval contest link on the Ford Blue Oval Scholars primary website, www.fordscholars.org.
Submitting an entry constitutes agreeing to the terms of these Official Rules and all decisions of Ford Motor Company and/or its designee, which are final and binding in all respects. Sponsor is not responsible for incorrect, inaccurate or incomplete entry information or for entries which are garbled, damaged, incompletely received, otherwise defective or lost due to any reason, all of which will be voided. Participants assume all risk of lost, late, misdirected, incomplete or ineligible entries.
Once submitted, all videos become the sole property of Ford Motor Company and can/will be used to promote company programs and services without further compensation or permission. All videos including student's name and school will be posted for public viewing/voting on the Ford Blue Oval Scholars Facebook page, (facebook.com/fordblueovalscholars).
Sponsor reserves the right to verify all Entries. If a dispute arises regarding the identity of an entrant, the authorized subscriber of the email account used at the time of Entry will be considered the entrant. "Authorized account subscriber" is defined as the natural person who is assigned an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization which is responsible for assigning email addresses or the domain associated with the submitted email address. Automated Entries are prohibited, and any use of such automated devices will be grounds for disqualification.
Participants' Personal Information: Information collected from Participants and Voters is subject to the Heart Behind the Oval Contest application, on the Facebook Platform, Privacy Statement. By entering the Sweepstakes or Voting, you expressly agree to the terms of the Privacy Statement.
What Are The Video Requirements?
All applicants must complete the contest registration form including: applicant's full name, primary phone number, address, e-mail address, college/university name, expected graduation date and non-profit cause.
Online submission process and video requirements:
- Complete the online contest application at facebook.com/fordblueovalscholars
- Submit your video (no longer than 3 minutes)
- Your video has been successfully uploaded when you receive confirmation on the website
- When uploading your video, include the name of the non-profit and a one sentence overview of your video
Videos must showcase how you're making a difference with your local non-profit. The deadline to submit video entries is 5:00 PM EST on November 30, 2011.
Non-profit requirements: The featured non-profit must meet the following guidelines:
- Be a 501c3 organization
- Must comply with Ford Motor Company Fund & Community giving guidelines, available here
Videos may not exceed 3-minutes in length. Once submitted, an entry cannot be deleted, canceled or modified by registrant. Language in the video must be English. Videos must be tasteful. Language will be evaluated by Ford Motor Company based on context and societal acceptability. Content must be intended for a family audience and must, in the sole and unfettered discretion of Ford Motor Company, be suitable for a general audience. The submission can and will be disqualified if:
- Video contains any nudity or sexually explicit content;
- Video depicts violence or acts of cruelty;
- Video attacks or disparages or presents in any false light any individual or group of people;
- Video contains any trademarks, copyrighted works or other intellectual property (other than as owned by contestant);
- Video communicates messages or images inconsistent with the positive images and/or goodwill to which Sponsor wishes to associate
- Video is deemed inappropriate by Ford Motor Company
By submitting an Entry, you warrant and represent that it: (a) does not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity; (b) that you have obtained permission from a person whose name or likeness is used in the Entry (including acceptance of these official rules); and (c) that publication of the Entry via various media outlets including Web posting, will not infringe on the rights of any third party rights. Any such entrant will indemnify and hold harmless, Sponsor from any claims to the contrary.
Any element(s) appearing in a video, including without limitation stills, clip art, supers, music (lyrics and/or melody) or other materials must be the contestant's own original work, created and performed by the contestant, or be in the public domain. Use of any copyrighted elements or other materials that are not the contestant's own original work, or not in the public domain, may result in disqualification.
Ford Motor Company reserves the right to reject and disqualify any video entry that it deems, in its sole discretion, to violate any of these content related requirements or for any reason for its sole discretion. If the content of the video does not meet the requirements listed above, it will not be posted to facebook.com/fordblueovalscholars and/or to Ford Motor Company's social media networking pages for viewing/voting.
User must inform all video participants and/or interviewees of the official contest rules
User must receive approval from video participants to participate in video submission in accordance with the official rules. Ford is not responsible for any liability.
What Are The Contest Deadlines?
The following dates pertain to the contest schedule and are subject to change:

| December 7, 2011 | Winners complete and submit acceptance package (includes proof of enrollment and required non-profit information) |

What are the winnings?
First, second and third place winners will receive a scholarship and a check will be provided to the featured non-profit in winner’s video. The first place winner will receive a scholarship totaling $5,000 and $2,500 to non-profit, second place winner will receive a scholarship totaling $2,500 and $1,500 to non-profit and the third place winner will receive a scholarship totaling $1,000 and $1,000 to non-profit. The prize acceptance package must be turned in within five (5) days of receiving or the prize will be forfeited.
A check will be awarded to each scholarship winner payable directly to the educational institution to be used for tuition in the 2012-2013 academic year. Proof of enrollment must be provided by December 7, 2011, as part of the acceptance package. The scholarship funds must be transferred no later than February 1, 2012.
The non-profit donation will be paid in the form of a check and go directly to the non-profit in the non-profit’s name.
Non-profits are subject to approval by Ford Motor Company at its sole discretion.
ALL WINNERS MUST RETURN SIGNED WAIVERS and WINNERS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 MUST HAVE A SIGNED PARENTAL WAIVER as a condition of receiving prizes.
How are winners selected?
Videos will be posted on facebook.com/fordblueovalscholars. Contest participants will have the ability to promote their video via social media or email. Public voting will occur at facebook.com/fordblueovalscholars. In order to vote you have to "like" the page and register. Voting can occur once per day per user ID. Public voting occurs October 17 - November 30, 2011.
Video Submission Criteria:
Ford Motor Company will review all submissions based on the following:
- Must follow Official Contest Rules.
- Video must take place at your featured non-profit
- Video must clearly show how you participate at the non-profit and how the non-profit has an impact on the community.
- Must follow video requirements. (See "What are the video requirements?")
Video submissions will be based on public votes cast at facebook.com/fordblueovalscholars
Ford Motor Company reserve the right to reject any entry that it deems, in its sole discretion, to violate any of these content related requirements, in which case the entry will not be posted online and will be deleted without any notification.
Ford Motor Company decision is final. Ford Motor Company will notify the first, second, and third place winners on or around December 1, 2011. In the event that one of the top three videos based on public votes is disqualified, an alternate video submission will be selected by Ford Motor Company. If an alternate winner is disqualified for any reason, prizes will not be awarded.
